--Meets a Number of Lebanese Leaders In Both Pro-gov't, and Opposition Parties French Foreign Minister, Bernard Kouchner, emphasized, in Beirut over the weekend, that it is "impossible to annul the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) and no group has the power to influence its mission," the Beirut daily AN NAHAR and others reported Sunday. Kouchner arrived in Beirut on Friday and met a number of Lebanese political and religious figures. During a press conference held on Sunday, Kouchner stressed the importance of the STL to reporters and addressed all Lebanese factions, which are calling for a boycott of the impending tribunal indictment, "to wait until the court's decision is released." Kouchner said he "knows nothing about the content of the STL's indictment or when it will be released." Kouchner denied the court's controversial and long-awaited indictment, which has raised tensions on the Lebanese political landscape, was the reason for his visit the daily added. A few months ago leaked media reports indicated that the STL might indict Hizbullah members for their involvement in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri.
